In The Palace 2022
We were tasked with creating the campaign for the 19th edition of the International Short Film Festival “IN THE PALACE”. Straightforward as this brief may sound, it turned out to be quite challenging because we had to develop a fresh and engaging story for a popular event that has told countless amazing stories over the past 20 years. What’s more, the plot had to revolve around the core aspects and identity of the festival while reflecting on the new location – a mining town with a solid reputation.
We tied the diverse film program with the surrounding initiatives and IN THE PALACE’s new status as an OSCAR-qualifying event to arrive at a suspenseful concept that highlights the unique perspectives brought by the bonding of different plot lines and creative visions at the festival. Certain bonds lead to tighter and meaner stories and others make big stories even bigger. These are some developments you don’t want to miss if you are into film-making and short films in particular. To stoke anticipation harder and keep viewers on edge, we added a shibari twist. A series of crafty illustrations served as a basis for the modelling of the knotty 3D compositions in the key visuals and the animated sequences. Every visual was a piece of an intriguing narrative that spread across various media channels and industry events.
In the end, all the pieces came together in a teaser that attracted to the event guests and participants eager to find out what’s coming next.
