The Lost Fries Band
Task:
Create an animated video that celebrates the National French Fry Day through the journey of a French fry lost in a car.
Solution:
Having dropped many French fries around our cars we started wondering what the poor fellas could do to get noticed and appreciated again. Just then it dawned on us that it’s very hard to escape a memorable tune when driving, so we assembled a motley crew of well-fried characters and produced their hit single targeting French fry lovers and drivers. Two of our colleagues who play in a premier local rock band created the music and gave the fries distinct voices.
When developing the song’s video, we settled on a cartoonish art direction with bright textures and an array of colorful settings in line with the client’s brand identity, the festive occasion and the cheerful vibe of the song. A number of 3D animation techniques were employed to help the fries put their adventures into verses and learn catchy moves. We also hid in plain sight some brand-related Easter eggs as stickers, textile patterns and set decoration.The encore was massive: the Lost Fries Band playing their hit onstage in front of an AAP store and making sure nobody forgets them or their buddies anymore. Or at least remembers to pick cleaning supplies for their car. Belated happy French Fry Day!
